The Day of Surgery
Before arriving for surgery, please do the following:
- Shower or bathe as you normally would. If your surgeon has given you instructions regarding the use of a specific cleanser, please defer to
his/her instructions. - Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night prior to your surgery unless otherwise instructed by our pre-operative nurse. This includes all foods, liquids, water, candy, gum and breath mints. You may brush your teeth or rinse your mouth on the day of surgery, provided nothing
is swallowed. - Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Remove all nail polish and makeup, including lipstick and mascara.
- Leave all jewelry or other valuables at home or with a family member. Absolutely no jewelry may be worn in surgery.
Please bring the following with you on the day of surgery:
- Picture ID (current drivers’ license or state ID).
- Health insurance card(s).
- Advanced medical directives such as durable power of attorney or living will.
- Contact lenses or eye glasses in a protective case, dentures, hearing aids, crutches or walker. These items should be left with a family member while you are in surgery. They will be retrieved once you are in the recovery room.
- Deductible, copay, coinsurance or other form of payment as determined in advance with our financial counselors.
